Chief McCoy

Tracey McCoy has been the Chief of Police for the department since February 2012.

Chief McCoy earned his Master of Public Administration through the University of Colorado School of Public Affairs and a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from Bellevue University. He is also a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command, SPSC-216. 

Chief McCoy began his career in law enforcement with the Canon City Police Department after serving five (5) years in the United States Navy, and has a unique level of law enforcement experience including patrol, investigations, tactical sniper/scout, trainer, corrections, inmate management and has previously held positions as Chief of Police and Town Administrator in other municipalities. In total, Chief McCoy has been on of law enforcement and municipal management since 1990. 

Chief McCoy has a foundational belief that police officers should provide outstanding customer service to the citizens they are in contact with and to treat every individual with respect and dignity. Chief McCoy enjoys spending his time off with his wife and six (6) kids.
