Silver Peaks Elevated Water Storage Tank Now Complete and Operational

The Town of Lochbuie is pleased to announce that the new 2-million-gallon elevated water storage tank serving the Silver Peaks area is now complete and fully operational.

This important infrastructure investment strengthens the Town's water system by providing additional operational capacity, emergency water storage, and fire protection capabilities to support the continued growth of our community. The project represents years of planning and coordination to ensure reliable water service for current and future residents.

We are proud to see this landmark project completed and serving the community as intended. The new elevated tank will play a critical role in maintaining a safe, reliable, and resilient water system for years to come.

Why This Project Is Necessary

The need for additional water storage in Silver Peaks was first identified in 1999 as part of long-term planning efforts. With the continued growth of Silver Peaks and the surrounding Town, additional water storage became a necessity. The land for this water tank was designated in an annexation agreement, and the Town’s latest Water System Master Plan confirmed the need for this expansion.

In late 2022, the Town began detailed planning for the construction of a new 2 million-gallon water storage tank. By May 2024, funding was secured from the Colorado Water Resources and Power Development Authority. The project was officially awarded to Landmark Structures in June 2024. The total estimated cost for this project is approximately $10,000,000, with completion expected by late 2025.

Recreational Area Development

In addition to the water tank, a new recreational area will be developed adjacent to the tank site. This area will include:

  1. A park
  2. A soccer field
  3. Walking and biking trails

These amenities are planned to enhance the quality of life for residents and provide valuable recreational spaces for the community. However, it is important to emphasize that these improvements will be constructed by developers in a future phase of Silver Peaks, and are not part of this project.
