County Road 2 Construction Update
CR 2, also know as 168th Avenue, straddles the boundary between the City of Brighton and the Town of Lochbuie. Residential subdivision developers on both sides of the road are responsible for widening the road to four lanes between 50th Avenue and 60th Avenue. Construction was to begin several months ago when a natural gas main was discovered within the area to be disturbed for the widening.
Updated construction drawings to address the gas main conflict are nearly complete and work to widen the road is expected to begin in the Spring of 2023. The first phase of the widening will occur on the south side of the road in the City of Brighton. Widening of the north side of the road will closely follow the south side widening. A more specific construction timeline will be shared once it’s available in the coming weeks. It is expected that the road will be open during construction, except for limited closures for very short periods of time.
