At the census of 2000, there were 2,049 people, 643 households, and 518 families residing in the town. The demographics of the town are rapidly changing though as the town enjoys a steady, healthy growth. At the end of 2005, Lochbuie has more than 1,200 homes with a population approaching 4,000 people and it is one of the 10 fastest growing towns in the state.

Denver International Airport is a short 20 minute drive to either the main passenger terminal or the freight terminals and the hotels and motels serving the airport. Several private or municipal air strips are located within 10 miles of town.

Interstate I-76 runs through Lochbuie. I-76 traveling eastbound to Nebraska and connects to Interstate I-80 east/west. I-76 traveling westbound connects with Interstate I-25 to Denver or to Interstate I-70 further to the west.

The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad is located within the town of Lochbuie.

Lochbuie is less than a 30 minute drive to all Colorado professional sports teams

The new Prairie Center Shopping Area is within five miles of Lochbuie. Amenities include national chain stores, restaurants and entertainment.  Other shopping within a short drive time include; Flatirons Mall, Larimer Square, 16th Street Mall, Denver Pavilions and Cherry Creek Mall.

In addition to being a residential center, the town has more than 100 acres of recently zoned and annexed prime retail and industrial property available for development as well as some 60 acres of municipal use and recreational land in the planning stages of development.
